Where Is My Leader?

I actually wrote this for a poetry competition in School, tho i changed my mind and did not submit it for the competition...yeah my school is an expert at pissing their students off. Pls dont ask me how..lol

Enjoy.....

Where Is My Leader?

When I was a little bird,
rather than forcing me to fly,
He made me realize the need to move in the sky.
Now I’m left alone but not shy to fly high,
Because my leader left in me, the conviction and will to fly high.

You taught me it was neither by power nor by might,
But it takes God’s grace to win a fight,
I dropped my weapons and presented myself in his sight,
It paid off and I’ve seen the light,
But your light leading so bright has been taken out of sight.
Where is my Leader?

When the light was so dark,
and I couldn’t see the right track,
You led me to God and made me ask,
He answered and like Noah you led me into the safe ark.
The ark has brought me safely to the right park.
but I’m still waiting for you to descend from the ark,
Where is my Leader?

You taught me it takes hard tackles to put obstacles in shackles,
that with courage, I can withstand any barrage.
You reminded me that the center-stage is mine,
and I shouldn’t be satisfied with the back stage.
Now success is here like the computer age,
But I can no longer see the sage!
Where is my leader?

You made merealize that I’m the city set on a hill – I can’t be hidden,
That the victory is sure,it has already been written.
Whenever I was about relenting,
You reminded me that Eldorado was just around the corner waiting,
and now I’m there holding my flag high……waving,
But I look round and cannot see yours,
Where is my Leader?

So sad how the mighty fall,
Now six feet below like you were never tall,
Fallen and can’t be mend like Jericho’s wall.
So painful this is where the curtains fall.
I know it is God’s call,
But I won’t stop asking : Where is my leader?

Even though he’s no longer here,
Memories off his heroic acts stay evergreen in my heart like a pine,
They inspire me to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.
And for the last time, Iask : Where is my leader?
And a voice finally replies ‘I am right here in you’
